Spring Fever

March 20, 2016

I can feel the weight of Winter slipping. The odiferous lingerance of hibernation is giving way to open windows and air fresh only in that it is new to this den. But the birds have started to return, and with them, the flowers will grow. The air will be more than different then. It will be flush with life. That long stagnation of winter shall have passed, and the stale air that comes from molten snow in woolen mittens will have a home no more. I have excursed through the chill and procured my own flowers with which to bouy my spirits: the lone cyclist in February's sub-zero gales, riding with a small bouquet peering out of my backpack or panniers. With the birds, though, come fresh flowers, fresh joys, and fresh critters, and with them my soul is nourished.

While my joy may be sustained by this perrennial growths that accompanies Eastermonth, be they Märzen or Aprilian, I find myself less and less able to make my home amongst these flowers. I spent the wintrous months embroiled in some personal projects that kept me mostly in isolation and certainly away from this space as I was composing some twenty-thousand words elsewhere. Now, though, with spirits refreshed and projects completed, I find myself flush with excitement for prospects to come and bursting with joy over getting back in the swing of things.

I posted the other day about a trip to Toronto next Wednesday through Saturday, and I'm excited to unveil that Toronto is just a warm-up to my Spring Tour. In fact, as I make my way from Chicago to Phoenix, one might suggest that I'm skipping spring altogether. Over thirty-two days (including my birthday), I'm making my way across the Western states and coast where I'll meet up with the flower of Montreal Delilah Sansregret in Portland, the Rose City, and we'll wrap up in Minneapolis. From there, though, I have no ticket home, so don't be surprised if we extend. Without further ado, the tour dates.
